Why Choose a Cabin Made From Shipping Containers?
Shipping container cabins are superior to alternatives like wall tents, yurts, sheds and prefab cabin kits for many reasons:
They're Strong. Simple. Adaptable. Affordable. And just plain cool.
Here's what makes a prefab shipping container cabin better:
- Built like a tank. Ultra secure. The structure is solid steel. No thieves, no termites, no rot, no sagging rooflines.
- Fast setup. Drop it on your land, level it out, and boom, you have an instant shelter.
- Fits in tight spots. A 20-footer can squeeze into places where a traditional cabin couldn't dream of going.
- Easy to modify. Add solar, insulation, wood paneling, woodstove, or just keep it rugged and raw.
- Budget-friendly. You can get into one of these for way less than the cost of alternatives or building from scratch. (See shipping container cabin cost below)
Shipping Container Cabin Size and Dimensions
Our storage container cabins are built from new all-steel 20-foot shipping containers. However, we can customize any shipping container size with doors and windows to create cabins of any size.
20' Shipping Container Cabina Dimensions
The 20ft conex container cabin has exterior dimensions of 20ft length, 8ft width and 8.5ft height. The cabin takes up about 160 sq ft of exterior space.
The internal dimensions are slightly smaller at 19'3” length, 7'8” width and 7'10” height. The interior of a 20 ft container cabin is around 148 sq ft.
Built For Security: Prefab Container Cabin Features
Our prefab container cabins are built for security with thick steel walls and cargo doors, a heavy duty steel man door with a tamper-proof lock box, and windows with steel security
Here's what makes our cargo container cabin a beast:
- Steel man door. This is heavy-duty and lockable with a tamper-proof lock box, ready to hold up under pressure from man or beast.
- Steel-shuttered windows. Protects glass from storms, flying tree limbs, wild animals, and anything else that doesn't belong.
- Wind and water resistant. Slam the door, lock it down, and let the weather do its worst. Nothing is getting in.
- Fire resistant. It's steel, not wood, so it's way less flammable and way more peace of mind.
- Rodent-proof. No mice chewing through walls. Just steel all around.
You can sleep easy (or stash supplies) knowing this cabin is built for more than looks. Whether you're prepping for the unexpected or just want a solid outpost in the woods, this cabin meets the challenge.
Customize Your Shipping Container Hunting Cabin
These container cabins are blank slates just waiting for your personal touch.
You can keep it rugged and raw or make it cozy enough to host a weekend retreat.
Here's a few ideas to customize your cabin:
- Add insulation and wood paneling. Make it warm, quiet, and more like a tiny home than a metal box.
- Install solar panels. Go completely off-grid with solar power, battery storage, and a few LED lights.
- Throw in a composting toilet or water tank. Yes, you can live in one—and not smell like a campfire.
- Sliding glass door. A sliding glass door is an elegant upgrade to your cabin
- Build bunks or a loft. Sleep more people or stash more gear.
- Install a mini wood stove or mount a propane heater. Stay toasty through the winter without running a noisy generator.
- Paint it to blend in—or stand out. Camouflage it in the trees or go bold with a custom color. (We offer camo paint as an upgrade – get a quote here)
The beauty of a shipping container cabin is how easy it is to make it yours.
